It's me Mari
Soooo, a little bit more about me. I've been doing full time wedding photography for over ten years, I actually fell in love with taking photos with a little "mik en druk" when I was still in high school, lots of random plants, landscapes and people made it onto my socials. I actually did my first wedding when I was only 18 years old (Thanks Claudette for taking a chance on me), then it happened, I fell in love with love stories. I'm actually a huge book nerd who will literally take any chance I get to drink coffee (no tea please) and read my whole day away. So to get to the point, I love stories, and everyone has a different tale to tell. Besides the amazing photos I get to take, I love connecting with people on such an intimate level, your story is so important to me I want to show it to the world.
From the moment you type that email till the day you receive your final package, I am a part of your wedding journey.
My life has changed so much over the last few years, we also got married and had two energetic little kiddies, so believe me, we know the important parts of life, we are living it. Every single part and person in life is part of your story and there is nothing more amazing than having those memories te reminisce over for the rest of your lives.
I also love to travel, around the world and locally, it doesn't matter if you will be at well known locations or in the middle of the desert, I will be there (okay but let's be honest if it's in the desert or on a mountain top I might just camp out there a little longer). So please throw your crazy ideas this way, I might just add a few.
Lastly, just so you get a feel of my vibe, I'm actually Afrikaans, so you might get a little bit of mengels, coffee is my go to drink (on my off days I enjoy tequila, little bit of mexican in me somewhere), my fav clothes are black, my hair has been all the colors or the rainbow, I thrive in misty rainy days but love a good sunset, Autumn is my fav month, I'm a Sagittarius, I can't sit still to save my life, so DIY is also in the mix, I'm a total night owl, my fav book genre is fantasy/epic fantasy, and I love conversations and connection, so if you just want to chat, hit that contact button.
Why tales of light?
If you search the literal meaning of tale, the definition is:“ A tale is a story, especially one that is full of creative embellishments. You can read a tale from a book, or tell a bedtime tale to kids. "Tales can be true or fictional, but they generally consist of a narrative, with a beginning and an end, made more interesting and exciting with vivid details.”
Therefore we are creating stories. Your story can either be a moment in time that you would always want to remember, a moment of movement, a moment of true and raw emotion. Or it can be totally fictional, created from an idea expressed in pictures through a Fine Art Surrealistic photograph. A brand new story that we create together.
Then there is light. What is photography other than light. We are writing stories while using some form of light, sunlight, moonlight, firelight, flashlight, spotlight, starlight, LIGHT.
Tales of Light is a combination of our most important two key elements of life. Telling a “tale” with “light”. This way we wish to once again be an inspiration to feel the warmth of the sun, listen to the songs of the wind and see smiles of happy children, to take a step back and actually “see”.
I strive to give you the best experience possible, with Tales of Light you will find guidance from day one with our wedding guidelines containing tips and tricks we have learned over the years, as much video calls, calls, emails and whatsapps till we might be new friends, a welcome box with little treats, guidance throughout your wedding day, a personal assistant, hair pin keeper, dress fluffer, constant laughs, a thank you box with your memories, and to top it off, you all receive the perks regardless of which Investment you choose.
